Baby swimming in Huntingdon reaches for the stars

BABY SWIMMING IN HUNTINGDON
REACHES FOR THE STARS
Babies and toddlers in Huntingdon have a reason to celebrate, as a regional swim school has just announced that they have taken up the STA’s leading baby swimming programme, STARFISH, which is sponsored by HUGGIES® Little Swimmers®.
Babybliss has been running swimming lessons in the Huntingdon area for two months, teaching more than 30 babies, toddlers and children every week from the pool at The Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon. The swim school’s baby sessions will follow the STARFISH swimming programme, which has been specifically designed for babies from birth and provides a clear and structured teaching programme with six progressive levels. Parents and babies are also given incentives each step of the way with colourful certificates and high-quality woven badges to mark their achievements.
Roger Millward, Chief Executive of STA said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Babybliss Swim School to the STARFISH family, and I am sure that parents and guardians in Huntingdon and the surrounding areas are thrilled to have nationally accredited baby swimming classes available. Although children won't be co-ordinated enough to learn to swim properly until they are a little older, parents can help them to feel confident and relaxed in the water and make swimming a fun way to exercise.
“The STARFISH series focuses on creating fun, positive experiences for babies which will not only help them to develop physically but also emotionally, intellectually and socially too; whilst equipping them with key skills in the water. The baby swimming sessions will help to make the water a safe and happy environment for very young children, and will also allow parents to feel assured that they are giving their children truly valuable life skills.”
Swimming programmes specifically designed for babies have significantly grown in popularity in recent years, as parents are becoming more aware of the importance of introducing their baby to the water early. This is supported by the results of a recent web survey conducted by STA, which shows a dramatic 84% increase in the number of babies (under the age of 2) across the UK who are taking part in swimming sessions in the last two years.
