Lenny Henry in the next big CBeebies Show 

Lenny Henry and Imelda Staunton are set to delight kids and parents in the new CBeebies show due to premiere this Autumn 

Variety is the spice of life and Big and Small are set to spice up CBeebies in the new pre-school show due to air 6 October 2008.  Celebrating the delightful differences between two best friends, every episode contains BIG fun which will keep little kids, big kids and parents learning and laughing together.   With legendary actor and comedian, Lenny Henry bringing his comic talent to the voices of Big and Small and Imelda Staunton adding her distinctive warmth and charm to the voices of Big and Small’s neighbours and friends, this is one big adventure not to be missed.  

Big and Small is about two best friends who couldn’t be more different. One is big and the other is small. The show follows their adventures as they try to live together in a chaotic house and garden in the country, creating an explosion of laughs as well as some genuinely touching moments of friendship and understanding.  

Big is big and hugely huggable.  He is gentle, kind, careful, considerate, thoughtful and fair.  He can be a little dreamy, occasionally indecisive and annoyingly tidy (you have never known anyone who loves to hoover as much as he does!).  Big loves inventing and has ideas for wonderful machines like a sunshine catcher. He’s easily distracted which sometimes drives Small CRAZY!    

Small is fast, loud, exuberant, dramatic and very, very thoughtless. For Small the world is a never-ending adventure. You’ve got to be strong and resilient if you’re small, not to mention loud and persistent! For Small, the impossible always seems possible and nothing will stop him on his next mission. He wakes up every morning thinking “What’s for breakfast?” and after that “What amazing new scary impossible thing can we do today?” Despite their differences, they make a great team…well, usually. 

The philosophy of Big and Small centres upon celebrating difference in a world too often divided by differing viewpoints.  Big and Small teaches that despite cultural and physical differences, children can learn to accept each other, think beyond themselves and be thoughtful and considerate of others.  

Both Big and Small love to sing and dance and each 11 minute episode has a catchy song as well as a good lesson to be learnt, offering a small dose of BIG fun with strong values that help kids and parents learn and laugh together.   

Lenny Henry provides the perfect dynamic voice for Big and Small while actress, Imelda Staunton adds her voice talent to Big and Small’s neighbours and friends, Ruby the mouse and Twiba, the worm.
