On first appearance the packaging was easy to follow and the pictures looked just like the meals did when they were cooked. If I saw these in a shop I would buy them as the ingredients are additive free, very clear and the packaging is recyclable.
We had the carrot and parsnip with potato Stage 1, which we used over two meals. We popped out 5 blocks each meal and heated them up in the microwave as directed. We were having a roast dinner that day and I added it as another veg on their plates. Ewan and Niamh loved it, the texture was nice and it was just runny enough to mix with their peas (which they have decided they don't like). I would definitely buy again, my only criticism was I lost a nail trying to get one of the blocks out frozen, they were a little difficult!
Plums and pear with banana, we used the whole thing and heated it up in the microwave. Ewan and Niamh loved this and I would buy it again. It tasted homemade. As they are a little older than Stage 1, I would use it as a sauce on top of a pudding. The texture was great and all the blocks popped out easily. It tasted homemade with a lot of flavour.
Cottage pie
I cooked this in the oven as directed and when it came out and was put in a bowl it looked really appetising, nice vegetables not too big or small. The only fault was there was a lot of potato that was a little dry so I had to add some milk. Ewan wasn't keen but ate it though. Not sure I would buy again.
Potato topped tuna and sweetcorn pie.
I microwaved this one instead as the potato on the cottage pie in the oven was very dry. This worked better and got to the table quicker! The flavour was nice, tasted like I made it! There was a nice balance of topping and tuna/sweetcorn. This was eaten up with no complaints by Ewan who asked for more. Would definitely buy again.
The portion sizes were good and even though my children are past the weaning stage I would buy both the carrot and parsnip with potato and plums and pear with banana to add to a meal/pudding.
They would all make great freezer foods for days when I didn't feel like cooking.
After looking on the website I think the prices are reasonable for what you are getting (especially when you compare it to a McDonalds happy meal of the same price!)
I will definitely be giving some of the other stage 3 meals a try. I especially like the sound of fruity curry and rice and pasta with broccoli!!

Packaging
Nice packaging, not too fussy and well labelled with the ingredients and also cooking directions.
Baby food – puree was in little ice cubed sectioned portions which was great for defrosting just the right amount. The other food was in nice individual portions.
Food
Purees looked like homemade food, the consistency was much nicer than food you tend to get out of jars. My daughter enjoyed it.
Next Sage Baby food – slightly lumpy which was very good for this stage, the smell and taste was similar to home cooked food, again it was enjoyed by Sophie.
Toddler food – half of it was eaten by my rather fussy 3 years old, which is a good thing. It did look and taste like home made cottage pie.
Overall – the food was enjoyed by Sophie (10 months) and Charlotte (3 years), the only thing is it seems a little expensive when you buy it in the shops, especially the puree!

Tuna and Sweetcorn Mash and Spaghetti Bol.
I gave my children half a serving of each dinner. Cooked in the oven.
Smelt good!
Louis, on seeing it, instantly said "this looks good mummy".
Then unprompted said "um, this tastes very good" (he doesn't say this about my home cooked food!).
Both children ate 7/8ths of both dishes straight off with no prompting from me. I ate the rest to taste it and thought it was truly delicious!!
I would definitely buy these dinners as the quality was very good. Taste and smelt delicious, just like homemade but better because I didn't have to cook it!
I will in future give my children smaller helpings of food when I cook for them, as the amount in the pack was perfect. I give them too big a helping and expect them to eat it all and invariably spend a lot of time coaxing them to eat. Do they do adult size portions?

Charlotte loved the meals, the potato was a little dry but she wolfed it all down. Very pleased to see fresh vegetables. Great to have in the freezer for a standby, but felt they were a little expensive.

I was very impressed with the meal especially because all the herbs could be tasted and definitely had a home made taste. I would buy it as a convenience to have stored in the freezer when I haven't prepared my own food and I would not hold the same guilt that I have when I give him a bland jar, because these have fresh and natural ingredients. My only concern is the price. I am prepared to pay more than the big brand jars but these e.g. Ella's kitchen and Plum (tiny) pots are becoming nearly £1.50 for a baby meal but these brands tend to do foods that I may not have in have fridge everyday. The flavour that I had for my toddler (tuna, potato and cheese pie) was very nice but they are ingredients that I could whip up myself using the microwave. Maybe mothers would pay expensive prices for meals to have once in a while for flavours they don't have in the cupboard and for something to quickly cook with. e.g. Livers are recommended in baby books for a great source of iron, dress it up in a multi selection of veg sauce and this would be a dish I would not cook. Having said that toddlers are very picky and only eat what they know and like seeing.
